What is Tule Springs Ranch?

Tule Springs Ranch is a historic site that shows how people lived and worked in the past. It is a group of buildings that have been kept safe because of their history. Being on the National Register of Historic Places helps protect these places for future generations to learn from and enjoy.

A Look at Its Past

The ranch district officially became a historic place on September 23, 1981. This was an important step to make sure its history was remembered.

Early Beginnings

The very first building at Tule Springs might have been a hotel called the U.S. Hotel around 1905. A man named Mr. Levandowski owned it. Later, in 1916, a settler named Bert Nay claimed water rights for the land. Water was very important in the desert!

Changing Owners

Bert Nay sold the ranch to Gilbert Hefner in 1928. Hefner owned the property for many years, until 1941. Then, Sheriff Gene Ward bought it. Soon after, Ward sold the ranch to Prosper Jacob Goumond. Most of the buildings you see at the ranch today were built in the 1940s, when Goumond owned the property.
