Club History: How Tuna Luso Started

Tuna Luso began as a musical group! On November 12, 1902, a Portuguese ship called Dom Carlos was going to visit the port of Belém. Some young Portuguese people living in the city decided to form a band. They wanted to welcome their fellow countrymen.

The Name: What Does Tuna Luso Mean?

The band's first name was Tuna Luso Caixeiral.

Later, the club changed its name to Tuna Luso Comercial. Years after that, it became Tuna Luso Brasileira, which is its name today.
