Tunica is a small community located in West Feliciana Parish, Louisiana, in the United States. It is known as an "unincorporated community." This means it does not have its own local government, like a city or town would. Tunica sits about 66 feet (20 meters) above sea level.
The United States Postal Service runs the Tunica Post Office. You can find this post office along Louisiana Highway 66.
Tunica is also home to two important historical sites. These are the Trudeau House and Trudeau Landing. Both places are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This listing means they are special places that are important to history and should be protected.
Education
Children living in Tunica attend schools managed by the West Feliciana Parish Public Schools. The younger students go to Bains Lower Elementary School and Bains Elementary School. These schools are located in Bains.
Older students attend West Feliciana Middle School and West Feliciana High School. These secondary schools are also in Bains.
Local Library Services
The West Feliciana Parish Library serves the community. It is located in St. Francisville. This library used to be part of a larger system called the Audubon Regional Library System. However, in January 2004, it became an independent library.

Tunica Elementary School History
In the past, elementary school children from Tunica went to Tunica Elementary School. This school building was located on Louisiana Highway 66. It was about 20 miles (32 km) from St. Francisville.
The first administration office and school wings opened in 1953. Later, a third wing and a multi-purpose building were added. Tunica Elementary was located a few miles from the main entrance of Louisiana State Penitentiary (LSP). Some of its students lived on the LSP grounds and in the surrounding Tunica Hills area.
On May 18, 2011, the parish school board decided to close Tunica Elementary. This decision was made because of budget cuts.
