Tusse's Early Life and Journey
Tusse was born in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. When he was just five years old, he had to leave his home country. He lived in a refugee camp in Uganda with his aunt for three years.
After that, he moved to Sweden. Since 2015, he has lived in a village called Kullsbjörken, which is close to Leksand.
Becoming a Star: Talent Shows
Tusse first showed his amazing singing skills on a Swedish talent show called Talang 2018. He used the name Tousin Chiza back then. The show was on TV4, and he made it all the way to the semifinals.
A judge named Bianca Ingrosso was very impressed by his performance. Tusse then became a finalist in Swedish Idol 2019, another popular TV show on TV4. He competed against Freddie Liljegren in the final and won the competition!
Music After Idol
After winning Swedish Idol, Tusse released three songs. Two of these were songs he had sung on Idol. On November 22, 2019, he released his cover of Whitney Houston's famous song, "How Will I Know".
As the winner of Idol, he also released his version of the winning song for that season, called "Rain," on December 3, 2019. Because he won, his first song was released as a CD single and was also available on the iTunes Store. His third song is titled "Innan du går."
Eurovision Journey
Tusse took part in Melodifestivalen 2021, which is Sweden's competition to choose their song for Eurovision. He sang a song called "Voices". He did so well that he went straight to the final round.
On March 13, 2021, Tusse won the Melodifestivalen final with 175 points! This meant he would represent Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest 2021. The big event took place in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
After his first practice for Eurovision, Tusse faced some difficulties on social media. In the semi-final, Tusse performed well enough to make it to the grand final on May 22. In the final competition, he finished in 14th place with his song.
After Eurovision, Tusse talked about his life and his experience in the competition in an interview with Vanity Teen magazine. He also shared his plans for his music career in the future.
Future Plans
In June 2023, it was announced that a movie about Tusse's life is planned to be made in 2024. This will tell his amazing story to an even wider audience!
