Leksand's Climate
Leksand has a type of weather called a humid continental climate. This means it has warm summers and cold winters.
The nearby Lake Siljan doesn't change the local weather much. This is because the lake is not too big. Also, it freezes over every winter.
Sometimes, if the lake is not frozen, it can cause a lot of snow. This is called "lake-effect snow." In May 2008, Leksand had a huge snowstorm. About 30 centimeters (12 inches) of snow fell!
Winters and springs in Leksand are colder than places closer to the coast. But spring also warms up faster here.
