Understanding the Story: Plot Summary
This section tells you what happens in Twilight. The cat Clans face new challenges and make big decisions.
Clan Challenges and New Leaders
After a tough attack, WindClan and ThunderClan are still recovering. They are trying to heal and become strong again. Meanwhile, Squirrelflight and Ashfur become closer friends. Squirrelflight's relationship with Brambleclaw becomes difficult. This is partly because Brambleclaw is good friends with his half-brother, Hawkfrost. Squirrelflight does not trust Hawkfrost.
A big event happens for WindClan. Onewhisker, a brave warrior, travels to the Moonpool. There, he receives his nine lives and becomes the leader of WindClan. He is now known as Onestar.
New Arrivals and Difficult Choices
Later in the story, a friendly farm cat named Daisy arrives. She brings her three young kits: Berry, Hazel, and Mouse. Daisy decides to join ThunderClan. She saw humans taking away her friend Floss's kits, and she wanted a safer home for her own.
Leafpool, ThunderClan's medicine cat, has a special bond with Crowfeather, a warrior from WindClan. Leafpool feels torn between her duties to her Clan and her feelings for Crowfeather. She struggles to decide what to do. Eventually, Cinderpelt, another wise medicine cat, finds out about Leafpool and Crowfeather. They have a serious talk. Leafpool then decides to leave the Clans with Crowfeather. She wants to follow her heart, as advised by the spirit cat Spottedleaf.
After spending a night away, Leafpool and Crowfeather hear bad news. Midnight, a wise badger, tells them that badgers are attacking the Clans. They quickly return to help.
The Badger Attack and Its Aftermath
During the fierce badger attack, Sorreltail begins to have her kits. Cinderpelt bravely helps Sorreltail while also fighting off the dangerous badgers. Sorreltail gives birth to four healthy kits. Sadly, Cinderpelt is killed by a badger during the battle.
ThunderClan starts to lose the fight. But just in time, WindClan arrives to help. Midnight had called them. Together, ThunderClan and WindClan manage to drive the badgers away. The story ends with Leafpool making a big decision. She chooses to stay in ThunderClan as their medicine cat. She decides not to leave the Clans to live with Crowfeather.
