Twister Falls is a really cool waterfall in Oregon. It's also known by other names like Crossover Falls or Crisscross Falls. This amazing waterfall gets its name because the water seems to "twist" as it flows down!
The water comes from Eagle Creek. It drops a total of 140 feet (about 43 meters) into a narrow canyon.
What Makes it Special?
Twister Falls has a unique shape. It's made of three main parts, or "tiers."
- First, the water slides down a small rocky slope. This part is about 5 feet (1.5 meters) high.
- Then, the main part of the falls plunges down 50 feet (15 meters). This is where the "twisting" action happens! A small part of the creek splits off here. It falls separately down the canyon.
- Finally, all the water comes back together. It then drops another 80 feet (24 meters) in a final big plunge.
This makes it look like the water is crisscrossing or twisting around itself. It's a truly unique sight!
How Did it Get its Name?
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) hasn't officially named this waterfall. However, people started calling it Twister Falls because of its unusual shape. The way the water twists and turns as it falls is what gave it this fun name.
