About 2 World Trade Center
2 World Trade Center is one of the main buildings planned for the new World Trade Center complex. This area was rebuilt after the events of September 11, 2001. The building is designed to be a very tall office tower. It will have 81 floors when it is finished.
Building Design and Plans
The building was designed by the famous architecture firm Bjarke Ingels Group. It is planned to be about 1,340 feet (408 meters) tall. This makes it one of the tallest buildings in New York City. The design is considered "Neomodern," which means it uses new and modern ideas in architecture.
Construction History
Construction for 2 World Trade Center started on November 10, 2008. The goal was to complete the building by 2024. However, as of 2013, construction was put on hold. This happened because the developers needed to find companies to rent the office spaces before they could finish building. The building is owned by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
