United Airlines Flight 175 was an airplane that was hijacked on September 11, 2001. This event was part of the September 11 attacks, a series of terrible events that happened on that day. The plane was flying from Logan International Airport in Boston, Massachusetts to Los Angeles International Airport in Los Angeles, California.
It crashed into the South Tower of the World Trade Center in New York City. Five people from a group called al-Qaeda took control of the plane. The aircraft was a Boeing 767. A total of 65 people were on board, including 56 passengers (five of whom were the hijackers) and nine crew members. Everyone on the plane died in the crash. The crash happened at 9:03 AM Eastern Daylight Time. Many people saw Flight 175 hit the tower live on television. This was because another plane, American Airlines Flight 11, had crashed into the North Tower earlier, drawing media attention to the scene.
