History of Tyndall
Tyndall was started in 1879. It was chosen to be the county seat of Bon Homme County. This means it's where the county government offices are located. The city was named after John Tyndall, a famous Irish scientist who had visited the United States.
Geography and Location
Tyndall is located in South Dakota. It covers an area of about 1.58 square miles (4.09 square kilometers). All of this area is land, with no large bodies of water inside the city limits.
Roads and Highways
Two main roads serve the community. South Dakota Highway 50 runs along the southern part of town, going from east to west. South Dakota Highway 37 is just west of the city. These highways help people travel to and from Tyndall.
