Tyra B's Music Journey
Tyra B started singing when she was young. She was part of a local group called Kraz'e with her sister and a friend. When her sister and friend went to college, Tyra B decided to follow her dream of becoming a singer.
Early Hits and First Album Plans
In 2005, Tyra B released two songs, "Country Boy" and "Still in Love". These songs became very popular, reaching the top 40 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip Hop chart. This was a big deal because she did it without a major record company helping her! She even worked with the artist Chingy on a new version of "Country Boy". Another song, "Get No Ooh Wee", also came out that year. Tyra B planned to release her first album, Introducing Tyra B, in 2006, but it was never officially released.
More Popular Songs and New Projects
In 2007, Tyra B started working on her second album, Past Due. Before the album came out, she released the song "Givin' Me a Rush". This song became her biggest hit! It reached number 2 on BET's 106 & Park show. It also did well on the Billboard R&B charts.
In January 2008, she released another song called "Get It Poppin'", which featured Soulja Boy. The album Past Due was supposed to include songs with other famous artists like Ludacris and Trey Songz. However, this album was also never officially released. In 2008, she worked with 2 Pistols on a song called "Candy Coated Diamonds".
Recent Music Releases
In April 2013, Tyra B shared her The Morning After mixtape on her website. A mixtape is like a collection of songs, often released for free.
More recently, she has been working on her first EP, called Tysexual. An EP is shorter than a full album. The first song from this EP, "Tease", came out in March 2015.
About Tyra B's Life
Tyra B has shared that her song "Still in Love" was written about a past relationship she had in high school.
