Tyrell spent two months playing in the reserve grade. Then, he was called back to the main team for a special game. This game was part of "Magic Round" against the Gold Coast Titans. However, the team lost this match. Tyrell was noted for making some mistakes during the game. The very next week, he was again sent back to the NSW Cup.

In June, Tyrell was allowed to talk with other rugby league clubs about possibly joining them.
