Tyrone Brunson (born January 29, 1985) is an American professional boxer. He is famous for holding a special record: he had the most first-round knockouts in a row for over six years!

Early Boxing Days

Tyrone Brunson comes from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, a city known for many great boxers. He grew up in a family where boxing was a tradition.

Amateur Fights

Before becoming a professional, Tyrone had a long amateur career. He fought in over 90 matches. He won 82 of those fights and only lost 12. This showed he was a very skilled boxer from a young age.

Becoming a Professional Boxer

Tyrone Brunson started his professional boxing career in 2005. His very first fight was a big success! He won by knockout against Kevin Carey in just 25 seconds.

The Knockout Streak Begins

That same year, Tyrone fought seven more times. Guess what? All of those fights also ended in a first-round knockout win for him! Four of these wins lasted less than 30 seconds. His fastest win was in just 17 seconds against Terry Rork.

His amazing streak of first-round knockouts continued into 2006. In his first fight of that year, he beat James Morrow. This win earned him the Mid American middleweight title.

A Big Win in 2017

On June 24, 2017, Tyrone had one of the most important wins of his career. He fought against Kermit Cintron, who was a very strong and experienced boxer. In what was called "Philly's Fight of the Year," Tyrone was knocked down twice. But he didn't give up! He managed to knock Cintron down three times and won the fight by knockout. It was an exciting comeback!

Chasing and Breaking Records

By early 2007, Tyrone Brunson had a perfect record of 14 wins and no losses. All of his wins were first-round knockouts! He was getting close to a special record.

The North American Record

He was trying to beat the unofficial North American record for most first-round KOs in a row. This record was held by Arthur "Young Otto" Susskind, who had 15 first-round knockout wins in the early 1900s. The cool thing about Tyrone's streak was that it started right from his very first professional fight.

On March 9, 2007, Tyrone matched Otto's record. He knocked out David Johnson in just 52 seconds of the first round. This fight was a bit strange! Johnson got tangled with the referee and hurt his ankle. Even though he was limping, he wanted to keep fighting. But then Tyrone hit him with a lot of punches, and Johnson was knocked down again. This time, he couldn't continue because of his ankle. Tyrone won by TKO (Technical Knockout).

The World Record

Tyrone officially broke the North American record on May 5, 2007. He knocked out Tony Watson in just 100 seconds of the first round. This made his record a perfect 16 wins and no losses.

Next, he aimed for the world record! This record was held by Edwin Valero from Venezuela, who had 18 first-round knockouts in a row. Tyrone matched Valero's record on June 8, 2007, with a win in New Zealand. Then, on March 8, 2008, he broke the world record! He got his 19th first-round knockout in a row by beating Francis McKechnai in just 72 seconds.

The Streak Ends

On August 15, 2008, Tyrone Brunson's amazing streak of 19 first-round knockout wins came to an end. In his 20th professional fight, he had a draw (a tie) against Antonio Soriano. The crowd was not happy with the decision, as they thought Soriano should have won.

Later, on December 4, 2009, Tyrone fought Carson Jones. Tyrone started strong in the first two rounds. But in the third round, Jones hit Tyrone with a powerful combination of punches. This knocked Tyrone down for the very first time in his career! Jones kept hitting him until the referee stopped the fight. Jones won by TKO.

In 2013, another boxer named Ali Raymi broke Tyrone's record. Ali Raymi got his 20th first-round knockout in a row.

Tyrone also had a tough fight on October 31, 2015, where he lost to an undefeated boxer named Caleb Plant.

Coming Back Strong in 2017

After facing some losses in 2014 and 2015, Tyrone Brunson made a great comeback in 2017. He won two big fights in a row. He beat Brandon Quarles and then had his famous win against the former world champion, Kermit Cintron. These wins showed that Tyrone was still a very strong and determined boxer!
