Tyrone A. Carter (born May 24, 1962) is an American politician and former police officer. He is a member of the Michigan House of Representatives, which is part of Michigan's state government. Since 2019, he has helped make laws for the people of Michigan. He is a member of the Democratic Party.

Education and Early Career
Tyrone Carter learned about law enforcement at the Wayne County Sheriff's Police Academy. After his training, he worked for the Wayne County Sheriff's Office for 25 years. He rose through the ranks and became an Executive Lieutenant before he retired in 2008.
Political Career
Becoming a State Representative
In 2018, Tyrone Carter decided to run for a position in the Michigan House of Representatives. This is a group of people who are elected to represent different parts of Michigan and create new laws. On November 6, 2018, he won the election. He became a State Representative for District 6.
Representing Michigan
As a State Representative, Mr. Carter works on important issues for his community. He is also a member of the Michigan Legislative Black Caucus. This group works to support the interests of African American citizens in Michigan.
After some changes were made to the voting districts in 2020, Mr. Carter ran for reelection in a new area. He successfully won the election for the state House's 1st district in 2022. He was reelected again in 2024, continuing his work in the Michigan House of Representatives.
Personal Life
Tyrone Carter is married to Lisa Carter. His wife, Lisa, also serves her community as the Police Commissioner for District 6. In March 2020, Mr. Carter tested positive for COVID-19, a type of illness.
