Tyrone Kennedy Corbin (born December 31, 1962) is an American former professional basketball player and coach. He played for 16 seasons in the NBA. After his playing career, he became a coach. He was the head coach for the Utah Jazz and also served as an interim head coach for the Sacramento Kings. Most recently, he worked as an assistant coach for the Charlotte Hornets.

College Basketball Career
Tyrone Corbin played college basketball at DePaul University from 1981 to 1985. He played in 120 games for the DePaul Blue Demons. Each year, his scoring and shooting percentages improved. He averaged 11.5 points and 7.4 rebounds per game.
Corbin was a strong player and was invited to the 1984 Olympic trials. He finished his college career as one of DePaul's top scorers. In 2005, he was honored by being inducted into the DePaul University Athletics Hall of Fame. He earned a degree in computer science before starting his professional basketball journey.
NBA Playing Career
Tyrone Corbin played as a small forward in the NBA from 1985 to 2000. The San Antonio Spurs drafted him in 1985. He played his first two seasons with the Spurs.
He later played for several other teams. These included the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Phoenix Suns. In 1989, the Minnesota Timberwolves picked him in an expansion draft. He had a great season in 1989–90, leading the team in rebounds and steals.
First Triple-Double
On January 2, 1991, Corbin made history for the Timberwolves. He recorded the team's first-ever triple-double. This means he got double-digit numbers in three different stats in one game. He had 10 points, 13 rebounds, and a career-high 10 assists against the Dallas Mavericks.
Time with the Utah Jazz
Corbin joined the Utah Jazz in 1991. He helped the team reach the NBA Western Conference Finals twice. During his time with the Jazz, he averaged 9.6 points and 6.2 rebounds per game. He played 233 games for the team from 1991 to 1994.
Later NBA Teams
After the Jazz, Corbin played for the Atlanta Hawks and the Sacramento Kings. He also had a short time with the Miami Heat. He returned to the Hawks for three more seasons. Later, he played for the Kings again and then the Toronto Raptors. His NBA playing career ended in 2001.
Throughout his 1,065 NBA games, Corbin averaged 9.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 1.8 assists. He was known as a versatile small forward. He also played in 81 NBA playoff games, showing his skill in important matches.
Coaching Career
After retiring as a player, Tyrone Corbin began his coaching career. He first worked as a player mentor for a minor league team. Then, he became a manager for player development with the New York Knicks.
Utah Jazz Coach
In 2004, Corbin joined the Utah Jazz as an assistant coach. He worked under longtime coach Jerry Sloan for seven years. In February 2011, he took over as the head coach of the Jazz after Sloan resigned. He coached the Jazz until April 2014.
Sacramento Kings and Other Teams
After leaving the Jazz, Corbin became an assistant coach for the Sacramento Kings. In December 2014, he was promoted to interim head coach. He served in that role briefly before moving to an advisory position with the Kings.
Corbin then joined the Phoenix Suns as an assistant coach in 2016. He worked there for two seasons. In 2018, he became an assistant coach for the Orlando Magic. Most recently, from 2022 to 2023, he was an assistant coach for the Charlotte Hornets.

Personal Life
Tyrone Corbin is married to his high school sweetheart, Dante. They have two children together, Tyjha and Tyrell. His son, Tyrell, also became a talented basketball player. Tyrell was named Utah's Mr. Basketball in 2011. He played college basketball for the UC Davis Aggies. Tyrell also played professionally for Mega Tbilisi in the Georgian Superliga in 2022.
