Tyson Stengle (born 19 October 1998) is a professional Australian rules football player. He plays as a small forward for the Geelong Cats in the Australian Football League (AFL).
Tyson started his football journey playing for Woodville-West Torrens in the SANFL. He also represented South Australia in national championships.
He was first drafted by the Richmond Tigers in 2017. Later, he moved to the Adelaide Crows. After leaving Adelaide, he joined the Geelong Cats in 2022. That same year, he helped the Cats win the AFL premiership. Tyson lives in Melbourne with Eddie Betts.

Early Life and Junior Football Career
Tyson Stengle was raised by his grandmother, Debra, from a young age. After she passed away, he lived with his grandparents Emily and Cecil Betts. He grew up in Ethelton, a suburb in Adelaide, where he finished high school.
Tyson began playing football at age 10 for the Portland Football Club. He played over 100 games there during his junior years. As a teenager, he was part of Port Adelaide's Aboriginal AFL Academy.
He played state-level football for Woodville-West Torrens in the South Australian National Football League. In 2016, he played 10 games for the reserves team, kicking 22 goals. He also kicked 13 goals in nine games for the Under 18 team. Tyson was part of the Eagles' reserves team that reached the Grand Final in 2016.
In 2016, he represented South Australia at the National Under 18 Championships. He was known for being "quick, creative, and classy." Experts also praised his "brilliant skills, blistering pace, and love of tackling."
AFL Journey
Playing for Richmond (2017–2018)
Tyson was drafted by Richmond as their first pick in the 2017 AFL rookie draft.
In early 2017, Tyson played for Richmond's reserves team in the VFL. He was a key player, kicking 13 goals in his first eight games. In June 2017, he was moved to the club's main senior list.
He made his AFL debut two weeks later in Richmond's win against Port Adelaide at the Adelaide Oval. He kicked two goals in that first game. He played one more AFL match before returning to the reserves team. He played in the VFL Grand Final with the reserves team that year. Tyson finished 2017 with two AFL games and two goals. He also kicked 33 goals in 19 VFL matches.
In 2018, Tyson continued to play for Richmond's reserves team. He had some great games, including one where he kicked six goals. Even though he played well, he did not get to play any AFL games that year. He finished the VFL season with 33 goals, the most for any Richmond player in that league.
After the 2018 season, Tyson wanted to move to another club. He asked to be traded to Adelaide.
Time with Adelaide (2019–2020)
Tyson Stengle joined Adelaide in 2018. He played for the Adelaide Crows for two seasons. His time with the club ended in March 2021.
Returning to SANFL in 2021
In 2021, Tyson went back to his original club, the Woodville-West Torrens Eagles. He played a big part in their team winning the SANFL premiership for the second year in a row. His strong performance helped him get another chance to play in the AFL.
On 5 November 2021, Tyson signed with Geelong.
Success with Geelong (2022–Present)
After getting a new chance with Geelong, Tyson played his first game for the club in Round 1 against Essendon. He kicked four goals, which was his best score in a single game at the time.
He became a regular player, playing all 22 games in the 2022 season. He kicked 46 goals that year. He was chosen as a forward pocket in the 2022 All-Australian team, which is a great honor. Later that year, he was part of Geelong's team that won the 2022 premiership.
On June 30, 2024, Tyson signed a new five-year contract with Geelong. This means he will play for the Cats until 2029.
