Club History
Early Years and Name Change
Football in Crema began in 1932. That's when U.S. Pergolettese was founded. The club started in Pergoletto, a part of the town.
In 1974, the club changed its name. It became U.S. Pergocrema 1932.
The team had a great season in 2007–08. They finished first in their league, Girone A. This win helped them move up to a higher league. It was called Lega Pro Prima Divisione. In that 2008–09 season, Pergocrema achieved their best result ever. They finished in 11th place.
In the 2009–10 season, Pergocrema finished 15th. This meant they had to play in special games. These were called relegation playoffs. They played against Pro Patria. The total score was 3–3 after two games. Pergocrema stayed in the league because they had a better ranking.
Financial Troubles and New Beginnings
On June 20, 2012, the club faced big money problems. A court in Crema declared Pergocrema bankrupt. This meant the team had to stop playing.
Before this, in 2009, the club had made a deal. They sold a player named Diego Manzoni. They got €500,000 for him. But they also got two other players in return. These players were Francesco Pambianchi and Niccolò Galli. Each was valued at €250,000. In June 2011, a year before the club went bankrupt, these two players went back to Parma. They were valued at €125,000 each. Again, this was part of a player exchange. They received Makris Petrozzi, valued at €250,000.
After Pergocrema stopped, a team called Pizzighettone moved to Crema. This happened at the end of the 2011–12 season. They changed their name to U.S. Pergolettese 1932. This was done to keep the football history of the old club alive.
Pergolettese moved up to a professional league in 2013. This was the 2013–14 Lega Pro Seconda Divisione. The club became professional again in 2019. They won the Serie D/C title. They beat strong teams like Modena and Reggio Audace. This success happened with former Serie A player Matteo Contini as their coach.
Team Colors and Badge
The main colors for the Pergolettese team are yellow and blue. The club's badge is a yellow shield. It has a blue stripe going across it. The name "Pergolettese" is written inside this blue stripe.
Supporters and Rivalries
The fans of Pergolettese have a special connection with fans of Piacenza. This is because both groups of fans do not get along with fans from Cremona. The Cremonese fans are their common rivals. Pergolettese fans also have friendly ties. They are friends with fans from Benevento, Nuorese, and Union Saint-Gilloise from Belgium.
Pergolettese plays in a local derby game. This is against AC Crema. Both teams share the same stadium. They also have strong rivalries with other teams. These include Mantova, Pro Patria, Trento, Fanfulla, Sant'Angelo, and Lecco.
Some of the well-known fan groups are le Brigate and the Cannyballs.
