U Select is a group of supermarkets in Hong Kong. It's run by a company called China Resources Vanguard. These stores sell many products from other countries.
At first, U Select worked with Tesco, a big supermarket from the UK. Later, U Select started selling products from Coles, an Australian supermarket, in December 2021. They also began selling items from Morrisons, another UK supermarket, in May 2022.

How U Select Started
In August 2013, China Resources Vanguard, a supermarket company, teamed up with Tesco from the UK. They planned to open stores together in places like Hong Kong and mainland China. China Resources owned most of this new partnership.
The first U Select stores opened in April 2015. The very first two stores welcomed customers on April 18, 2015. They were located on Prince Edward Road West and in Bellagio Mall.
In June 2015, a third U Select store opened in Shau Kei Wan. By September 2015, the tenth store had opened in Kwun Tong.
The number of U Select stores grew over time. In May 2018, there were 37 stores. By February 2021, the number had increased to 67 stores. In July 2021, there were 75 stores across Hong Kong.
Different Kinds of U Select Stores
U Select has different types of stores, each with its own style.
U Select Stores
The first U Select stores had a blue color design. They were meant to offer good value for money. These stores originally only accepted cash payments.
U Select Food Stores
In June 2019, the first U Select Food store opened in South Horizons. These stores have a black color design. They offer more products from other countries, especially food items. They sell fewer non-food products compared to the original U Select stores.
U Select Mini Stores
On April 22, 2021, the first U Select Mini store opened on King's Road. These were smaller stores. There were only two U Select Mini locations, both on Hong Kong Island.
Where to Find U Select Stores
Many of the first U Select stores were once Vanguard supermarkets that were changed into U Select. More locations were added later.
