Udall is a small place in southern Missouri, United States. It's called an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and businesses that isn't officially a town or city with its own local government. Udall is located in Ozark County.
It's about 12 miles southeast of Gainesville and 8 miles west of Bakersfield. You can find it along Missouri Route O. If you travel about one and a half miles west from Udall, the road ends at a park. This park has a landing spot on Norfork Lake, which is a great place for outdoor activities.
The Story of Udall's Name
Udall wasn't always called Udall! A long time ago, it had a different name: "Saint Leger." There was a post office there with the name Saint Leger, which opened in 1848.
Later, in 1885, the name was changed to Udall. The post office stayed open until 2003. There's a fun story about how Udall got its name. People say the name "Udall" comes from someone telling a horse, "You doll, get up!" It's a bit of a funny legend, but it's part of the community's history!
