The Ukrainian Cultural and Educational Centre is a special place in Winnipeg, Manitoba. It is also known as Oseredok, which means 'centre' in Ukrainian. This centre is a museum, an art gallery, and a library. It celebrates the history and culture of Ukrainian people living in Canada. It is the biggest Ukrainian cultural centre of its kind in all of Canada.

What is Oseredok?

Oseredok was started in 1944 by the Ukrainian National Federation of Canada. Its main goal is to collect and keep important items. These items help tell the story of Ukrainian Canadians.

The Museum Collection

The museum has many interesting things. You can find old documents and maps there. There are also rare books and many photographs. The museum collects items of folk art, which are handmade crafts. You can also see tools used by early settlers. Musical instruments and traditional Ukrainian clothes are also part of the collection.

The Art Gallery

The gallery at Oseredok shows art from different artists. These artists are from Canada and other countries. All of them have Ukrainian backgrounds. Their art helps share Ukrainian culture with everyone.

The Library

The library at Oseredok is very large. It has over 40,000 books and magazines. These books are in both Ukrainian and English. There are special collections for children's books. You can also find books about folklore, music, and science. The library has a collection of very old and rare books too.

Visiting Oseredok

Oseredok is open from Monday to Saturday. You can visit between 10 AM and 4 PM. It is a great place to learn about Ukrainian culture.

Helping Others

The centre also helps people in need. For example, they held an online art auction. Artists and collectors gave their artworks for this event. The money raised helped the Canada-Ukraine Fund. It also supported Oseredok's efforts to help Ukrainian refugees coming to Manitoba.
