Ulrich Müther (born July 21, 1934 – died August 21, 2007) was a famous builder from East Germany. He was known for his unique designs using concrete.

Early Life and Career

Ulrich Müther was born in a town called Binz. His family owned a construction company. In 1953, during a time of change in East Germany, his family's company was taken over by the government. However, Ulrich Müther became the manager of the company in 1958.

He was inspired by other famous architects like Félix Candela and Oscar Niemeyer. These architects were known for their creative use of concrete. Müther himself designed and built about 74 buildings using a special technique called "concrete shell" construction. This method creates strong, curved shapes that look very modern.

Challenges and Legacy

After German reunification in 1990, many things changed in East Germany. In 1993, Ulrich Müther's company faced difficulties and went out of business. Despite this, his buildings remain important examples of modern architecture.
