Umut Bulut (born March 15, 1983) is a Turkish former professional footballer. He played as a striker. From 2007 to 2018, he played 39 games and scored ten goals for the Turkey national team.

Umut Bulut's Football Journey

Umut Bulut has played for many football clubs throughout his career. He is known for scoring many goals. Let's look at some of the teams he played for.

Playing for Trabzonspor

In 2006, Umut Bulut joined Trabzonspor. He signed a four-year contract. He was given the number 10 jersey, which was a special number at the club. His first game was on August 5, 2006. He scored his first goal for the club the very next week.

Overall, Bulut scored 88 goals in 197 official games for Trabzonspor. He helped the team win the 2010 Turkish Super Cup. He also won the 2009–10 Turkish Cup. In the 2010 Turkish Cup Final, he scored a goal against Fenerbahçe. Trabzonspor won that game 3–1.

Moving to Toulouse in France

On June 28, 2011, Bulut moved to France. He signed with the club Toulouse FC. He played his first game in Ligue 1 (the top French league) on August 6, 2011. Just one week later, he scored his first goal for Toulouse. He scored another important goal in a 1–0 win against Nancy. He also scored two goals against Lyon, including one amazing long-range shot.

On June 26, 2012, Umut Bulut joined Galatasaray on a loan. He had a fantastic start. In his very first game, he scored two goals against their rivals Fenerbahçe. This was during the 2012 Turkish Super Cup. Galatasaray won the game 3–2, and Bulut was named the best player of the match.

He continued to score goals in the 2012–13 Süper Lig season. He scored two goals in his first league game. He also scored in the next match, helping Galatasaray to a 3–3 draw. On September 2, 2012, he scored the first goal in Galatasaray's 3–2 win. This was the club's one thousandth league win!

Bulut's amazing start continued. He scored five league goals in the first four weeks. This broke a record set by another player. After his successful loan, Galatasaray officially signed Bulut. He joined them permanently on a 3+1 year deal.

Later Club Career

  • Kayserispor: On August 25, 2016, Bulut joined Kayserispor. He signed a two-year contract with them.
  • Yeni Malatyaspor: On December 19, 2019, Bulut moved to Yeni Malatyaspor. He signed a 1.5-year contract.
  • Eyüpspor: On June 18, 2021, Bulut signed a 1+1 year contract with Eyüpspor.
  • Sarıyer: On August 14, 2023, Bulut joined Turkish Third Division team Sarıyer.

Playing for His Country: Turkey

Umut Bulut played his first international game for Turkey on June 5, 2007. It was a draw against Brazil. He scored his first two goals for Turkey on June 2, 2012. This was in a friendly game against Portugal. Turkey won that game 3–1.

Bulut scored three goals (a hat-trick) against Andorra. This happened during a World Cup qualifier game on September 6, 2013. Turkey won that match 5–0.

Personal Life

Umut Bulut faced a very sad event in his personal life. On March 14, 2016, it was shared that his father, Kemal, had passed away. This happened the day before, after he had watched Galatasaray's match.
