Unionville is a small, unincorporated community located in Monroe County, Indiana. An unincorporated community means it's a group of homes and businesses that don't have their own local government like a city or town. It is part of Benton Township.
History of Unionville
Unionville was first known by a different name, Fleenersburg. It was officially mapped out, or platted, in 1847. This means its streets and lots were planned on a map. A post office has been serving the community since 1848.
In 1911, Unionville was a very special place. It was found to be the exact center of the United States population at that time. A monument was put there to mark this important spot.

Unionville is home to a school for younger students. This school is called Unionville Elementary School. Long ago, this building was actually Unionville High School.
