Unistraw facts for kids
Imagine a straw that can change the taste of your drink as you sip! That's what the Unistraw Delivery System (UDS) is all about. It's a special kind of straw that was invented by a company called Unistraw International Limited in 1997. It first became available in stores in 2005. This clever straw can add different things to your drink, like yummy flavors, a boost of energy, vitamins, or even extra nutrition.

How the Unistraw Delivery System Works
The Unistraw Delivery System, or UDS, has three main parts that make it work. First, there's the clear plastic straw itself. Second, there are special filters placed at both ends of the straw. These filters are important because they let liquid in but keep the tiny flavor beads inside.
The third part is hundreds of small, round pieces called UniBeads. These UniBeads are packed inside the straw. When you put either end of the straw into a drink and sip, the liquid goes through the filters. As the liquid passes over the UniBeads, they dissolve. This releases the flavor or other good things (like vitamins) into your drink. It's a smart way to add something extra to what you're drinking! In 2006, Unistraw even won an award for this cool invention from the Australian Institute of Food Science and Technology.

Sipahh Milk Flavoring Straws are a popular product that uses the Unistraw Delivery System. These straws are designed to turn plain, cold milk into flavored milk as you drink it. You just use a Sipahh straw like any other straw.
Sipahh straws were first launched in Australia and are now sold in many countries around the world. They come in lots of tasty flavors, including chocolate, banana, caramel, strawberry, vanilla, cookies & cream, honeycomb, and choc-mint. Many kids enjoy Sipahh straws, and you can often find them in school canteens.
Because people are more concerned about plastic pollution, new Sipahh straws made from biodegradable materials were introduced in 2019. This means they are better for the environment.

Mai'a straws are made to flavor a glass of cold milk, turning it into an iced coffee drink. They are often marketed to young adults as a healthier choice compared to other iced coffee drinks. Mai'a straws are available in three flavors: Espresso, Mocha, and Cappuccino.
