The United Counties of Prescott and Russell are two counties that have joined together in Ontario, Canada. Think of them as a big area made up of two smaller parts. The main office, or county seat, for these counties is in a place called L'Orignal. This area was formed in 1820 when Russell County and Prescott County became one. It is located in the eastern part of Ontario.
The United Counties of Prescott and Russell cover a large area, about 2,004 square kilometers. A special natural area called the Alfred Bog is found here. Many different kinds of birds, plants, and butterflies make their home in this bog. In 2011, about 85,381 people lived in Prescott and Russell. A lot of people who live here are Franco-Ontarian, meaning they are from Ontario and speak French. In fact, about two-thirds of the people in this area speak French as their main language.
