History of Unity
How Unity Started
Unity was first planned out in the year 1810. When a place is "platted," it means someone drew up a map. This map showed where streets and building lots would go. It was like designing the town before it was built.
The Old Post Office
A post office was opened in Unity in 1828. This was a very important place for people to send and receive letters. It helped connect the community with the rest of the country. The post office served the area for many years. It finally closed its doors in 1902.
