The Universidad de los Andes (UANDES) is a private university in Santiago, Chile. It was started in 1989 by a group of teachers and professionals. The university is inspired by Catholic values. It focuses on teaching, research, and helping the community.
UANDES is officially recognized for its quality. It has been approved for five years in areas like teaching, research, and how it is managed. Since 2019, it has been part of the Council of Chancellors, a group of university leaders.

History of UANDES
The university officially opened on September 8, 1989. It was founded by Eduardo Fernández León, Matías Izquierdo Menéndez, and Eduardo Gulisasti Gana, along with others.
The first subject taught was law in 1990. Soon after, medicine and philosophy programs began. Over the years, UANDES has grown a lot. Today, it offers many different study programs.
Students and Campus Life
More than 9,000 students attend UANDES. They study in 28 different undergraduate programs. These programs cover subjects like humanities, engineering, and healthcare. There are also 11 associate degree programs.
Over 1,500 students are in postgraduate programs. These include PhDs, master's degrees, and medical specialties. The main campus has important facilities. These include the Clinica Universidad de los Andes, a hospital for teaching and care. It also has the CiiB, a center for medical research. The ESE Business School is also on campus.
UANDES also has a health center in San Bernardo. This center helps the local community. It also gives students a place to get hands-on experience.
University Buildings
The main campus is called San Carlos de Apoquindo. It has nine important buildings. These include the ESE Business School building. There is also a special building for engineering students.
The university has a large library for students to study. The central building holds many offices. It also has classrooms and a special room for graduation ceremonies. The university has two of its own clinics. One is the health center in San Bernardo. The other is the Clinica Universidad de los Andes, which is right on the main campus.
