About Urbano González Serrano
Urbano González Serrano was a follower of the ideas of a German philosopher named Karl Christian Friedrich Krause. He even developed his own special way of thinking, which was called krausopositivismo. This means he mixed Krause's ideas with something called "positivism," which focuses on facts and observation.
He was a student of Nicolás Salmerón, who was a very respected professor. Sometimes, Urbano González Serrano would even teach Salmerón's classes about "Metaphysics" (the study of basic truths and reality) at the Universidad Central in Madrid.
González Serrano was also one of the first people to study new fields like sociology (the study of how societies work) and psychology (the study of the mind). He believed that understanding how things work physically was very important for learning.
Besides his teaching and studies, he also translated books from German into Spanish. He even helped put together a collection of poems by another famous writer, Ramón de Campoamor.
