Uruca is the seventh district in the San José canton, located in the San José province of Costa Rica. It is a very important area for businesses and factories in San José. Many people know it as La Uruca. It is the second largest district in terms of size, right after Pavas. Uruca is also known as a busy place for transportation.

Where is Uruca Located?
Uruca covers an area of 8.44 square kilometers (about 3.26 square miles). It sits at an elevation of 1,112 meters (about 3,648 feet) above sea level.
Uruca's Borders and Neighbors
Uruca is like the western entrance to the capital city. Its northern side shares a border with the Heredia Province. This includes the cantons of Belén, Heredia, and Santo Domingo. Also, parts of San José like Escazú and Tibás are nearby. Other districts that border Uruca are Merced, Mata Redonda, and Pavas.
What Neighborhoods are in Uruca?
The Uruca district is made up of many "barrios," which are like neighborhoods. Some of these neighborhoods include Alborada, Bajos de Torres, Carpio, Carranza, and Corazón de Jesús. You can also find Cristal, Finca de la Caja, Florentino Castro, Jardines de Autopi, and Las Animas here. Other neighborhoods are Magnolias, Marimil, Monserrat, Peregrina, Robledal, Rositer Carballo, Santander, and Saturno. The main part is Uruca Centro, along with Vuelta del Virilla and Zona Industrial.
