Uwe Bein's Football Career
Many football fans and experts say Uwe Bein was one of the most skilled German midfielders of his time. He was known for his amazing passes that could set up goals for his teammates.
Starting Out in Germany
Uwe Bein started his professional football journey in 1978. His first team was Kickers Offenbach. After that, he played for several other big German clubs. These included 1. FC Köln, Hamburger SV, and Eintracht Frankfurt.
He played a total of 300 games in the Bundesliga. This is Germany's top football league. During these games, he scored 91 goals. In 1986, he helped 1. FC Köln reach the final of the 1986 UEFA Cup Final. Even though he scored a goal in that game, his team lost to Real Madrid.
Playing in Japan
In 1994, Uwe Bein moved to Japan. He joined a team called Urawa Red Diamonds. He played there until 1996. After his time in Japan, he returned to Germany. In 1997, he played a few games for VfB Gießen.
International Matches
Uwe Bein's biggest success came in 1990. He was part of the German team that won the 1990 FIFA World Cup. He played in four of the seven games during that tournament. He scored one goal in a big 5–1 win against the United Arab Emirates. He played in all three group matches and the quarter-final game.
He played a total of 17 international matches for Germany. He scored three goals for his country. He stopped playing for the national team in 1993.
