Vía Verde de la Sierra facts for kids
The Vía Verde de la Sierra is a special path in Spain. It's an old railway line that has been turned into a fun trail for people to enjoy. You can go hiking, cycling, or even horse riding on it!
This path is about 38 kilometers (23.6 miles) long. It stretches through beautiful mountains between two villages: Puerto Serrano and Olvera. These villages are in the provinces of Cádiz and Sevilla. The Vía Verde de la Sierra is part of a bigger network of similar paths across Spain, called the Vías Verdes.
As you travel along the path, you'll follow the Guadalete and Guadalporcún rivers. You'll also pass by amazing nature spots. One is the nature reserve of Peñón de Zaframagón, which is home to a huge group of griffon vultures. Another cool place is the natural monument of Chaparro de la Vega, a very old and big oak tree.
The route uses a railway track that was once planned to connect Jerez de la Frontera in Cádiz with Almargen in Málaga. It winds through the mountains of Cádiz.

There are many interesting places to see and explore when you are on the Vía Verde de la Sierra:
- Bird Watching Hide: Near the natural reserve of Peñón de Zaframagón, there's a special spot where you can quietly watch birds. It's a great place to see the amazing griffon vultures up close!
- Chaparro de la Vega: You can take a short path to visit the natural monument of Chaparro de la Vega. This is a giant, ancient oak tree that is truly impressive to see.
