Tiruchirapalli Srinivasan Rangarajan, known as Vaali, was a famous Indian poet. He was born on October 29, 1931, and passed away on July 18, 2013. Vaali holds a special record for writing the most songs in Tamil movies.
He worked in the Tamil film industry for over 50 years. During this time, he wrote more than 15,000 songs! Vaali was also an actor. He appeared in several films, including Sathya and Hey Ram. In 2007, the Government of India honored him with the Padma Shri. This is one of India's highest awards for civilians.

Vaali's Early Life and Career
Vaali was born as T. S. Rangarajan on October 29, 1931. His parents were Srinivasan Iyengar and Ponnammal Iyengar. His family came from Thirupparaithurai in the Tiruchirappalli district.
He went to school in Srirangam at the Higher Secondary School for Boys. After finishing school, he moved to Madras (now Chennai) in 1950. He hoped to find work in the Tamil film industry.
In the 1960s and 1970s, Vaali became a very successful lyricist. He wrote many songs for popular actor M. G. Ramachandran. He also wrote songs for Sivaji Ganesan. Vaali wrote songs for M. G. Ramachandran in 64 films. He wrote for Sivaji Ganesan in 80 films.
Books Written by Vaali
Besides writing songs, Vaali also wrote many books. He shared his life story in his autobiography, Naanum Indha Nootrandum. This book means "Me and This Century."
