Vaccaro and the Oil Field
The area where Vaccaro used to be is part of the Mountain View Oil Field. An oil field is a region where oil is found underground. This specific part of the oil field is even named after Vaccaro. It is the southeasternmost section of the field.
This oil-rich area was first discovered in 1937. It has been producing oil ever since. This means that even though Vaccaro is no longer a town, its name lives on through the important oil field nearby.
