How Vadilal Started and Grew
Vadilal started making ice cream way back in 1907. They used a special hand-cranked machine called a kothi. Imagine making ice cream by hand!
In 1926, Vadilal opened its own ice cream shops. They even started delivering ice cream right to people's homes.
New Ice Cream Flavors and Machines
Vadilal was the first to bring a type of ice cream called cassata to India in 1950. Cassata is a layered ice cream with fruits and nuts.
In 1985, the company grew bigger. They brought in India's first machines that could automatically make ice cream candies. This made making ice cream much faster!
Reaching More People
Vadilal became a public company in 1989. This meant people could buy shares in the company.
In 1993, they opened a new ice cream factory in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh. Just two years later, in 1995, Vadilal started sending its ice cream to over 26 different countries!
In 2012, they added new machines to make different types of ice cream. These included machines for making special ice cream shapes and cones.
In 2017, Vadilal got a new logo and a fun new saying: “Dil Bole Waah Waah Waah.” This means "The heart says wow wow wow!"
