Valdezcaray is a fun ski area located in Spain. It's close to the charming town of Ezcaray in the beautiful Oja Valley. You'll find it in the Iberian Mountains, specifically in the La Rioja region.

Valdezcaray Ski Resort: Your Winter Fun Spot

Valdezcaray is a great place for families to enjoy winter sports. It has 22 kilometers (about 13.7 miles) of marked pistes, which are special trails for skiing and snowboarding. The resort has been updated a lot recently with better facilities.

The highest point you can reach at Valdezcaray is 2,125 meters (about 6,972 feet) high. This is near the top of Mount San Lorenzo. From the very top to the bottom, you can ski down a difference of 600 meters (about 1,968 feet) in height.

The main part of the ski area, called the base, is at 1,530 meters (about 5,020 feet) above sea level. Here, you'll find all the important services you need for a ski trip. From the base, a main chair lift takes you up to the different ski trails. All the hotels and places to stay are in the town of Ezcaray, which is about 13 kilometers (8 miles) downhill from the ski slopes.

Getting Up the Mountain: Lifts at Valdezcaray

Valdezcaray has modern and efficient lifts to get you around the mountain quickly. Most of them are new!

The resort has:

  • 6 chair lifts, which are like seats that carry you up the mountain.
  • 1 ski tow, which pulls you along the snow while you stand on your skis.

Ski Slopes for Everyone: Pistes at Valdezcaray

A "piste" is another word for a ski trail or slope. Valdezcaray offers 24 different pistes, so there's something for every skill level!

The pistes are marked with colors to show how difficult they are:

  •       6 Green pistes are for beginners. These are the easiest slopes.
  •       6 Blue pistes are easy, but a bit more challenging than green ones.
  •       10 Red pistes are for intermediate skiers. They are steeper and more exciting.
  •       2 Black pistes are for expert skiers. These are the most difficult and steepest trails.
