This city got its name from a very important person named Valentín Alsina. He lived from 1802 to 1869. Valentín Alsina was a Governor of the independent State of Buenos Aires two times! A governor is like the leader of a state or province.
Valentín Alsina is also known as one of the "cien barrios porteños." This means it's considered one of the 100 historic neighborhoods of the main city area.
