Valentin Vacherot (born November 16, 1998) is a professional tennis player from Monaco. He achieved his highest singles ranking of world No. 40 on October 13, 2025. He also reached a doubles ranking of No. 476 on February 20, 2023.
In 2025, Valentin made history by winning an ATP Tour singles title at the Shanghai Masters. He became the first player from Monaco to win such a big title. He was also the lowest-ranked champion in the history of Masters 1000 tournaments (since 1990). This amazing win helped him become the first Monégasque player to reach the top 50 in singles. He also recorded his first win against a top-5 ranked player. Valentin is currently the No. 1 singles player for Monaco.

Early Life and Family Connections
Valentin Vacherot was born in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, France. He is coached by his half-brother, Benjamin Balleret, who used to be a professional tennis player himself. Valentin is also cousins with another tennis player, Arthur Rinderknech. Their aunt is Virginie Paquet, who is Arthur's mother.
In October 2025, Valentin and his cousin Arthur both reached the final of a Masters 1000 tournament for the first time. This happened at the Shanghai Masters, making it a very special family event in tennis history.
College Tennis Journey
Before turning professional, Valentin played college tennis in the United States. He was part of the Texas A&M University tennis team. Playing college tennis helped him develop his skills and prepare for a career in professional sports.

2022: First Big Tournament Win
In 2022, Valentin achieved a significant milestone by winning his first "Challenger" title. This happened at the Nonthaburi Challenger in Thailand, where he defeated Lý Hoàng Nam in the final. Challenger tournaments are an important step for players to gain experience and improve their rankings on the way to the main ATP Tour. Valentin became only the second player from Monaco to win a Challenger title, and the first since 2004.
2023: Playing with the World's Best
Valentin received a special invitation, called a wildcard, to play in the main part of the 2023 Monte-Carlo Masters. This was his "Masters debut," meaning it was his first time competing in one of the prestigious ATP Masters 1000 events, which feature the world's top players. He played against Luca Nardi in the first round.
2024: Grand Slam Debut and Rising Rankings
Valentin continued to make progress in 2024. He received another wildcard for the 2024 Monte-Carlo Masters. Later that year, he made his "Grand Slam debut" at the 2024 French Open. Grand Slams are the four biggest and most famous tennis tournaments in the world! He qualified for the main draw, becoming the first player from the Monégasque Tennis Federation to do so. He also reached the top 120 in the world rankings on May 6, 2024.
2025: A Historic Year with a Major Title
The year 2025 has been truly remarkable for Valentin Vacherot.
- He received a wildcard for the 2025 Monte-Carlo Masters and achieved his first win at a Masters tournament. He beat Jan-Lennard Struff, becoming the first Monégasque player to win a main draw match at that tournament since 2009.
- In October, Valentin achieved his biggest career success at the 2025 Rolex Shanghai Masters. Despite being ranked No. 204, he won the entire tournament as a qualifier! This made him the lowest-ranked player ever to win an ATP Masters 1000 title.
- On his incredible journey to the title, he defeated many strong opponents. He recorded his second and third Masters wins against Laslo Djere and Alexander Bublik. He then reached his first Masters quarterfinal, becoming the lowest-ranked quarterfinalist in the event's history.
- In the quarterfinals, he upset the 10th-seeded player, Holger Rune.
- A major highlight was his semifinal match where he faced the 4th-seeded player, Novak Djokovic. Valentin defeated Djokovic in straight sets, becoming the lowest-ranked player ever to reach a Masters 1000 final.
- The final match was extra special as he played against his first cousin, Arthur Rinderknech. Valentin won the match in three sets, securing his first ATP Tour and Masters 1000 title. This victory propelled his singles ranking to a career-high of No. 40 in the world.
