Valeri Ramshukhovich Bganba, born on August 26, 1953, is a well-known politician from Abkhazia. He has held several important roles in his country's government. He served as the Prime Minister of Abkhazia and also as the acting President of Abkhazia for a short time. Before these roles, he was the Speaker of the People's Assembly of Abkhazia, which is like being the leader of the country's parliament.

Early Life and Education
Valeri Bganba was born in a village called Bzyb in the Gagra District. This was on August 26, 1953. For his higher education, he studied at the Kuban Agriculture Institute. He attended this institute from 1971 to 1976.
Starting His Political Journey
Valeri Bganba began his political career in 1991. That year, he was chosen to be a member of Abkhazia's Supreme Soviet. This was an important step in his public service.
Later, in 1998, he was elected to lead the Gagra District Assembly. He was chosen for this role again in 2001. This shows he was a trusted leader in his local area. In December 2002, he became the Governor of the Gagra District. He held this position until May 2006, when he asked to step down.
Leading the Parliament
In March 2007, Valeri Bganba was elected to the People's Assembly of Abkhazia once more. This is Abkhazia's main law-making body, similar to a parliament. He won his election in constituency number 9.
He was re-elected in March 2012, being one of only a few members to keep their seats. On April 3, 2012, he was elected as the Speaker of the People's Assembly. This meant he was in charge of leading the parliament's meetings and work. He served as Speaker until April 12, 2017.
Becoming Prime Minister and Acting President
Valeri Bganba became the Prime Minister of Abkhazia on September 18, 2018. The Prime Minister is the head of the government. He held this position until April 23, 2020.
During his time as Prime Minister, he also took on another big role. From January 13 to April 23, 2020, he served as the acting President of Abkhazia. He stepped into this role after the previous president resigned. New elections for a president were then planned for March 22, 2020.
Before this, in 2014, Valeri Bganba also served as acting President for a few months. This was from June 1 to September 25, 2014. This happened after the president at that time, Alexander Ankvab, resigned.
