He also worked with youth groups and in government offices like the State Plan of Ukraine and the Council of Ministers of the Ukrainian SSR. These roles helped him understand how the country worked.
Building Businesses and Helping Ukraine
In 1990, Valeriy Babych started his own company called "Inter-Invest." A year later, in 1991, he became the head of a big financial group called RAO "Ukrainian Exchange." This group later changed its name to JSC "Ukrainian Financial Group," and he became its president.
From 1993 to 1994, he worked as an adviser to the President of Ukraine, Leonid Kravchuk. He helped the president with ideas about how to build a strong market economy in Ukraine. This means he advised on how businesses and money could work freely.
A Leader in Politics and Public Service
Valeriy Babych was elected to the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, in both the 1994 and 1998 Ukrainian parliamentary election. As a member of parliament, he helped make laws for the country.
