Valle Nevado is a famous ski resort in the Andes Mountains of Chile. Its name means "Snowy Valley" in Spanish. It's located about 46 kilometers (28 miles) east of Santiago, the capital city. This resort is a great place for skiing and snowboarding, offering lots of space and different slopes. It was started in 1988 by people from France.

History

How Valle Nevado Started

Valle Nevado was built by people from France and Chile. Construction began in 1987 and finished in 1988. The idea for the resort came from ski areas in Europe, especially Les Arcs in France.

New Lifts and Buildings

In 2001, Valle Nevado opened the first detachable chairlift in the area. This was a big step forward for the resort. From 2008 to 2010, many new buildings were added. This helped offer more places for visitors to stay. Two large buildings called Valle de los Condores were part of this growth. More chairlifts and ski lifts were also installed, and new ski slopes were opened.

First Cable Car

In 2013, the Valle Nevado Ski Resort opened Chile's very first mountain cable car. This made it even easier for people to get up the mountain.

About the Ski Resort

Ski Season and Slopes

The ski season at Valle Nevado usually starts in June and ends in October. The resort has 34 marked ski slopes. These slopes are for different skill levels:

  • 4 slopes for beginners
  • 11 slopes for intermediate skiers
  • 14 slopes for advanced skiers
  • 5 slopes for expert skiers

You can reach these slopes using 16 different lifts on the mountain.

Snow Park

Valle Nevado also has a special snow park. This park is a fun place for people to practice cool tricks and maneuvers on their skis or snowboards.

Services for Visitors

Valle Nevado offers many services to make your visit enjoyable. You can find a ski and snowboard school if you want to learn or improve your skills. There's also a place to rent equipment like skis, snowboards, and boots.

For your safety, there is a medical center. You can also find a mini-market and several stores for anything you might need. Close to the slopes, there are many different restaurants and hotels where you can eat and stay.
