Vanessa Jennifer Baden-Kelly (born September 8, 1985) is an American actress, writer, and producer. She is famous for her roles as a child actress. You might know her from the Nickelodeon TV shows Gullah Gullah Island and Kenan & Kel.
In 2017, Vanessa starred in, helped write, and helped produce a web series called Giants. This show was supported by Issa Rae. In 2019, Vanessa won a Daytime Emmy Award for her amazing acting in Giants.

Vanessa's Early Life
Vanessa Baden was born in Manhattan Beach, California. She grew up in Satellite Beach, Florida. She started her career as a model, appearing in print ads.
In 2004, she won the Florida District Miss Black and Gold Pageant. She later graduated from Florida State University in December 2007. She earned a degree in sociology.
Vanessa's Career Journey
Vanessa began acting on TV when she was a child. Her first big role was playing Vanessa in the Nick Jr. show Gullah Gullah Island. After that, she played Kyra Rockmore in more than 60 episodes of the teen sitcom Kenan & Kel. Both shows were on Nickelodeon.
In 1997, she had a supporting role in the movie Rosewood. She also appeared as a guest on the children's game show Figure It Out. She then took a break from acting for a year.
Returning to Acting
In 2011, Vanessa returned to acting. She played Hope in the YouTube comedy series Fail. In 2012, she starred as Erin Mult in the TV movie Chris & Todd. In 2014, she acted alongside Jenifer Lewis in the comedy film Secrets of the Magic City.
Since 2017, she has been a star, co-writer, and co-producer for the web series Giants. You can watch this show on Issa Rae's YouTube channel. Vanessa plays a character named Journee in the series. Her acting in Giants earned her a nomination for a Daytime Emmy Award in 2018. She then won the award in 2019!
Vanessa also works as a writer and producer. She helped write and produce many episodes of Giants. She has also written for The Huffington Post.
In May 2021, Vanessa's book of essays was published. It is called Far Away from Close to Home: A Black Millennial Woman in Progress.
