Vasily Mikhailovich Peskov (Russian: Васи́лий Миха́йлович Песко́в) was a famous Russian writer, journalist, and photographer. He was born on March 14, 1930, and passed away on August 12, 2013. Vasily Peskov was also known for his love of nature and his work as an ecologist.
He started working for the Russian newspaper Komsomolskaya Pravda in 1956. This newspaper was a popular daily publication. From 1975 to 1990, he hosted a TV show called In the World of Animals on Soviet TV. This show helped many people learn about wildlife.
Vasily Peskov received important awards for his work. In 1964, he won the Lenin Prize, which was a very high honor in the Soviet Union. In 1990, he was recognized by the UNEP for his efforts to protect the environment. He was added to their Global 500 Roll of Honour. After he passed away, the Voronezh Nature Reserve in Russia was renamed in his honor in 2013. This reserve is one of the oldest in Russia.
