Adelaide's Vegan Festival

Adelaide also has the M.A.D. FREE Weekend in November. This event also celebrates World Vegan Day.

Melbourne's World Vegan Day

Since 2003, World Vegan Day has been celebrated in Melbourne. It usually takes place on the last Sunday of October. This event was started by a vegan social group called Vegans Unite. Now, a committee connected to Vegetarian Victoria organizes it.

Many different groups and businesses have stalls at the festival. These include places like Lentil as Anything, Invita Living Foods, and Animals Australia. Other groups like the Vegan Society of Australia and Animal Liberation Victoria also join in.

Sydney's Annual Event

Sydney also has its own yearly vegan event. The Winery by Gazebo in Surry Hills held Sydney's first annual event. This happened on the first Sunday of November in 2016.

New Zealand's Vegan Events

Invercargill's Vegan Society

The Invercargill Vegan Society is in Invercargill, New Zealand. This group has celebrated World Vegan Day since 2011. They are the world's southernmost vegan group!

For World Vegan Day 2012, they gave away tofu to butchers. They also put up posters around their city. They even gave out vegan muffins in the city center. A group potluck dinner was also held.

In 2013, their celebrations included visiting butchers' shops. They also gave away vegan baked goods and soya milk. Vegan activists were even on Cue TV's news. They gave a soft toy dog to a factory that preserves animal skins. A potluck dinner was held at the Invercargill public library as the sun went down on World Vegan Day 2013.
