Verna Frances Bloom (born August 7, 1938 – died January 9, 2019) was an American actress. She was known for her many roles in movies and television shows, bringing different characters to life on screen.

Verna Bloom's Acting Career
Verna Bloom had a busy acting career that spanned several decades. She performed on Broadway, which is the highest level of live theater in the United States. One of her notable roles there was Charlotte Corday in a play called Marat/Sade in 1967. Later, in 1983, she played Blanche Morton in Brighton Beach Memoirs, another popular Broadway show.
Movies and TV Shows
Verna Bloom made her first movie appearance in Medium Cool. She then went on to act alongside famous stars like Clint Eastwood in the 1973 film, High Plains Drifter. She also appeared in a TV movie called Where Have All The People Gone? in 1974, with Peter Graves.
Throughout her career, Verna Bloom acted in more than 30 films and many television episodes. Some of her most memorable movie roles include playing Marion Wormer in the comedy Animal House in 1978. She also played Mary, the mother of Jesus, in the 1988 film The Last Temptation of Christ. Her acting career lasted from the 1960s until 2003.

They later separated. In 1972, she married Jay Cocks, who was a film critic. They had a son named Sam, who was born in 1981. Verna and Jay stayed married until she passed away.
Later Years
Verna Bloom passed away at the age of 80 on January 9, 2019. She died in Bar Harbor, Maine, due to health problems related to dementia.
