Veronica Webb was born in Detroit, Michigan. Her mother, Marion, was a retired Army lieutenant colonel and a nurse. Her father, Leonard Douglas Webb, worked as an electrician. Both of her parents served in the Army for 20 years before she was born. Veronica grew up in a regular neighborhood. Her sisters also achieved great things; one became a doctor who treats cancer, and another became a mathematician.
