Veto is a small place in northern Limestone County, Alabama, United States. It is called an unincorporated community. This means it is not officially a city or town with its own local government.
Veto's History
Veto was first known by a different name: State Line. This was because it was located right on the state border.
Later, the community changed its name to Veto. It was named after another community with the same name. That other Veto was just across the state line in Tennessee.
A post office served the area under the name State Line from 1875 to 1877. Then, a new post office opened as Veto. It operated from 1882 until 1955.
Today, Veto is the northern end point for the Richard Martin Trail. This trail is a popular spot for walking and biking.
