The Vice-President of Sierra Leone is a very important leader in the government of Sierra Leone. They are the second most powerful person in the country, right after the President. Think of them as the President's main helper and backup!
The Vice-President's most important job is to take over as President if the current President resigns or is removed from office by the Parliament. Besides that, the President decides what other tasks the Vice-President will do.
Currently, the Vice-President of Sierra Leone is Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh. He is a member of the Sierra Leone People's Party. He became Vice-President on April 4, 2018, after he and Julius Maada Bio won the presidential election together.

Keeping the Vice-President Safe
The Vice-President of Sierra Leone is protected by a special group of police officers. These officers are part of the operational support division of the Sierra Leone Police. Their job is to make sure the Vice-President is always safe.
How the Vice-President's Role Began
The job of Vice-President was created in 1971. This was when Sierra Leone officially became a republic. At that time, Siaka Stevens was the Prime Minister. The very first Vice-President was Sorie Ibrahim Koroma.
What Does the Vice-President Do?
The Vice-President has several important duties:
- They are the main helper to the President of Sierra Leone.
- They act as President when the President is out of Sierra Leone or cannot do their job.
- They help control who goes into areas where diamonds are protected.
- They are involved with different boards that give out permits.
- They work on various matters involving people who are not citizens of Sierra Leone.
- They help keep an eye on the Cabinet, which is a group of top government officials.
- They also do any other tasks that the President asks them to do.
