Vice-President of the Comoros facts for kids
The vice-president of the Comoros was an important job in the government of the Comoros, a country made of islands. Vice-presidents were chosen by the president.
From 2002 to 2011, the top jobs, including the president and two vice-presidents, took turns between the three main Comoro Islands: Grande Comore, Anjouan, and Mohéli. Later, from 2011 to 2019, there were three vice-presidents, with one coming from each island.
In May 2019, the role of vice-president was ended. This happened after a special vote called a constitutional referendum in 2018. Instead of vice-presidents, the country now has a "main minister" and governors for each island. These people can step in as acting president if needed.
