The Vice President of Palau is a very important leader in the government of Palau. This person is the second-highest official, right after the President. They help the President run the country and make sure things work smoothly for everyone in Palau.
What the Vice President Does
The Vice President of Palau is chosen by the people in special elections. These elections are separate from when the President is chosen. Once the President is officially in office, the Vice President becomes a key member of the President's team, known as the Cabinet. The President can also give the Vice President other important jobs to do for the country. Since 2010, the Vice President has earned a salary of US$65,000 each year.
