Vicente Magsaysay (born January 20, 1940 – died April 13, 2020) was an important Filipino leader. He was the head of the Philippine Postal Savings Bank from 2009 until he passed away. He also served as the governor of the province of Zambales for many years.
He was governor from 1968 to 1986, and again from 1998 to 2007. Vicente Magsaysay was the longest-serving governor in Zambales history, holding the position for a total of 27 years.

A Long Career in Politics
Vicente Magsaysay was a very experienced politician. He was the nephew of a former Philippine President, Ramon Magsaysay.
Becoming Governor of Zambales
He first became the governor of Zambales in 1968. He served during a time known as the Marcos dictatorship. He stopped being governor after the People Power Revolution in 1986. This event led to a big change in the government.
Returning to Public Service
After some time, he ran for Vice President in 1992 but did not win. However, he was re-elected as governor of Zambales in 1998. He won again in 2001 and 2004, showing how much people trusted him.
From 2009, he also served as the chairman, or head, of the Philippine Postal Bank. This bank helps people save money and sends mail.
Running for Senator
In 2007, he was chosen to run for senator. He was part of a group called Team Unity. Even though his name was not in surveys before, he was selected to be a candidate.
Helping Education in Zambales
Vicente Magsaysay cared a lot about education. He helped build the Jesus F. Magsaysay High School in Castillejos, Zambales. This school is also known as Castillejos National High School.
About Vicente Magsaysay's Family
People often called him GoVic or VicMag. He was married to Rosellyn Enciso, who passed away in 2014.
His family has many members involved in public service. His daughter, Angel Magsaysay-Cheng, was elected Vice Governor of Zambales in 2016. Another daughter, Mary Rose Magsaysay, worked as an Undersecretary of Energy. She is also a trustee at the Cultural Center of the Philippines.
His eldest son, Jesus "JV" Vicente, is married to Milagros "Mitos" Magsaysay, who was a representative in the House of Representatives of the Philippines. Other relatives include Senator Ramon Magsaysay Jr. and TV personality JB Magsaysay.
Vicente Magsaysay passed away on April 13, 2020.
